Guilty as charged

Today, history unfolded right before my eyes - the chief magistrate was given the boot by the senators-jurors with an astounding 20-3 vote, for culpable violation of the Constitution by deliberately excluding the reporting of several, unbelievably-valued peso and dollar accounts in his SALN. Since Erap's 2001 trial didn't end with a conviction nor an acquittal because of the walkout staged by some disgusted prosecutors, Mr. Corona went down in written record and living memory as the first official to be tried and served a decision by the impeachment court.

How did the senators-judges vote regarding the matter at hand, the breakdown is as follows:

For Conviction
  • Angara
  • Cayetano, A.
  • Cayetano, P.
  • Drilon
  • Escudero
  • Estrada
  • Guingona
  • Honasan
  • Lacson
  • Lapid
  • Legarda
  • Osmena
  • Pangilinan
  • Pimentel
  • Recto
  • Revilla
  • Sotto
  • Trillanes
  • Villar
  • Enrile
For Acquittal:
  • Arroyo
  • Defensor-Santiago
  • Marcos

A staggering number of votes for removal from office in lieu of a staggering amount of wealth hidden from the public's view - that is how I made sense of the conclusion of the high court-high drama that has been my afternoon delight for quite some time.

In anticipation of our Friday getaway

February. Travel Tour Expo. One sweet deal - 3D/2N accomodation at Bellarocca, inclusive of roundtrip airfare to the tune of Php12K per person. Not bad!

Go or no? Last minute decision. Of course, it was a yes! It was what we went there for, after all, to find that gold nugget of a travel deal.

March. April. May. Yeah!

Now, only days before our trip and there's just too much energy in me to contain that I can't even sleep. Finally, a much needed escape is within reach and in a very luxurious resort at that!

So, outfits have been laid out and packed, details verified and confirmed, resort itineraries mapped out and signed-off by everyone - all that is left to do is wait!
